IFAHR Objectives
The new International Federation of Arabian Racing Authorities must immediately act to promote and improve Arabian racing worldwide. Through innovative measures, the Federation must assist all Arabian racing bodies by encouraging the development of greater sponsorship from the private sector. In raising the level of prize monies available for Arabian races we will attract new owners into the industry thus strengthening the grassroots development. More owners translate into more horses, expansion of breeding facilities, more employment and income. We must all realize that Arabian racing can improve only if steps are taken to expand the base of people involved.
We as a group must address the need to promote a professional atmosphere within the Arabian racing industry in order the gain necessary respect from those involved in all equine disciplines especially the thoroughbred racing industry. In many countries, Arabian racing is still considered to be an amateur sport in terms of its level of competition and its level of organization. This situation will not allow Arabian racing to flourish. Only when Arabian racing is organized in a professional environment will the levels of success we all desire be achieved.
By developing committees to study various aspects of Arabian racing, the Federation can achieve goals once not considered attainable. Committees to promote corporate sponsorship, to study ways to improve rulebooks and to develop communication between various countries to allow owners and trainers worldwide access to races will all benefit Arabian racing.
A committee to promote Group racing is a major concern and should begin meeting immediately so as to promote Group racing throughout the world.
A pattern committee to standardize racing is also crucial, this will allow all involved in the Arabian racing industry to gain a clearer perspective of each countries racing.
In closing, we must as a group, realize that our new Federation has the opportunity to achieve great successes. This desire, which I am sure we all share, can only be achieved with the cooperation of all member countries.
We must learn to communicate and discuss important issues without allowing time to pass, we must work as a team to achieve our goals and we must realize that an entire industry, the Arabian racing industry, will benefit tremendously from our greatest efforts.
